This year’s Tour Series culminated with the Grand Final in Manchester. A short, simple 1km circuit with just 4 corners was the test for the riders. Strong winds and just enough elevation change meant that both races split up with the concertina effect into and out of the corners.
The women’s race was dominated by the Pro-Noctis-Rotor-RedChilli Bikes p/b Heidi Kjeldsen team in their yellow leader jerseys. On the last lap, Team Boompads rider Lucy Harris attacked but she was overtaken before the finish line by Sammie Stuart and race winner Emma Jeffers.
For the men’s race, it was Wiv SunGod who dictated the race. Again, they were in the yellow leader jerseys and pushed such a ferocious pace that only a dozen riders were in the front group. A long solo attack by Oli Wood was pulled back and then was counter-attacked by teammate Matt Bostock. Despite Ribble Weldtite’s Harry Tanfield’s best efforts, Bostock stayed clear to take the victory.
