Maud Rijnbeek has signed a two-year deal with VolkerWessels, marking her move from AG Insurance-Soudal to the Dutch team for the 2025 season. The 21-year-old, known for her strengths in time trials and the classics, expressed excitement about the fresh start and the opportunity to develop further in her career.
Rijnbeek has started to show her talent in recent seasons, notably won the time trial at the 2022 Watersley Womenโs Challenge and secured second place in the opening time trial at the Tour de Feminin earlier this year. Her performances on the road also caught attention, with top-10 finishes in Dwars door de Westhoek and the Grote Prijs Yvonne Reynders.
In a statement from the team, manager Marnix Drysdale highlighted Rijnbeekโs potential and existing experience. He described her as a “talented rider” who has delivered “impressive results” both on the road and in time trials. โMaud is incredibly motivated to grow further and achieve success, which fits perfectly with our teamโs ethos. We are excited to start working with her,โ Drysdale said.
Speaking about her move, Rijnbeek shared her enthusiasm for joining VolkerWessels, noting the teamโs alignment with her goals. โFrom the very first conversations, this move felt right and there was a lot of trust. The team has the things I need to grow and improve, so I know this is the best choice for me to develop as a rider and hopefully take a big step forward with the whole team,โ she said.
The Dutch rider added that she aims to be competitive in the finales of classics, continue improving her time trialling, and contribute to the teamโs success during races. โThe girls have already shown that thereโs a strong team spirit, and I canโt wait to be part of it. Iโm thrilled for this fresh start and eager to get to know everyone,โ Rijnbeek commented.
Rijnbeek is the third new addition to the VolkerWessels roster for 2025, joining Lonneke Uneken from SD Worx-Protime and Maaike Boogaard, who also makes the switch from AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step. Meanwhile, the team has bid farewell to Sofie van Rooijen, who moves to UAE Team ADQ and Marith Vanhove to the AG Insurance U23 team.
