Netcompany INEOS sign Joe Blackmore and James Shaw for 2027

Netcompany INEOS have confirmed two more additions for 2027, signing Joe Blackmore from NSN Cycling Team and James Shaw from EF Education-EasyPost.

The pair arrive at very different points in their careers. Blackmore is still only 23 and joins after an injury-hit 2026 that interrupted the momentum of his breakthrough seasons, while Shaw brings more than a decade of professional experience and a proven record as a climber and stage-race support rider.

Netcompany INEOS announced both moves together in their team release, continuing a busy reshaping of the roster ahead of next season.

Blackmore joins after injury-hit 2026

Blackmore arrives from NSN Cycling Team with one of the strongest under-23 records produced by a British rider in recent years. His 2024 season included overall victory at the Tour de l’Avenir, the Tour du Rwanda and the Tour de Taiwan, along with victory at Liège-Bastogne-Liège Espoirs.

That run of results moved him quickly into WorldTour racing, and he made his Tour de France debut in 2025. His 2026 season was much more difficult, however, with persistent knee pain limiting his racing before surgery in May.

He returned later in the summer at the Clásica San Sebastián and then rode the Czech Tour, but the year never developed into the full programme he had originally expected. His move to Netcompany INEOS therefore comes after a season in which simply getting back to racing was the main story.

Blackmore’s 2024 results showed the range he brings. He can climb, finish quickly from reduced groups and handle stage-race general classification pressure, giving Netcompany INEOS another British rider who is not tied to one type of race.

His Tour de l’Avenir win remains the clearest reference point. Blackmore became the first British winner of the race since Simon Yates in 2013 and completed a season in which he repeatedly won both one-day races and stage races rather than fitting neatly into one category.

Shaw adds experience and climbing depth

Shaw joins from EF Education-EasyPost after five seasons with the American WorldTour team. At 30, he gives Netcompany INEOS a more established climbing option who can work for GC leaders while still taking opportunities in mountain stages and breakaways.

His 2026 season included one of the strongest climbing performances of his career at the Tour of Austria. Shaw finished second to Gregor Mühlberger on the Großglockner stage, then ended the race seventh overall. He was also sixth on stage three of Itzulia Basque Country and later completed the Vuelta a España.

Shaw also started the Giro d’Italia in May, featuring in breakaways before withdrawing on stage 19. He arrives with extensive Grand Tour experience at a time when Netcompany INEOS are adding several younger stage-race riders.

His career has taken a less direct route than Blackmore’s. Shaw first reached the WorldTour with Lotto Soudal, later rebuilt his career through SwiftCarbon, Riwal and Ribble Weldtite, and returned to the top level with EF in 2022. Since then he has become a regular Grand Tour rider and a dependable option on mountainous terrain.

Netcompany INEOS continue rebuilding their climbing group

The two signings fit the pattern of Netcompany INEOS’ transfer work for 2027. The team have already added Harold Tejada, Clément Champoussin and Markel Beloki, adding depth around a core that includes Oscar Onley, Kévin Vauquelin, Egan Bernal and Thymen Arensman.

Blackmore adds another young stage-racing option, while Shaw brings experience from Grand Tours and one-week races. They strengthen the same part of the squad from opposite ends of the age profile.

It also continues the British emphasis within the squad at a time of wider roster change. Netcompany INEOS have lost several established names during the transfer window, including Filippo Ganna and Magnus Sheffield, while Sam Welsford is also leaving after one season.

The 2027 group is therefore taking on a different shape. Blackmore arrives after the most disrupted season of his young career, while Shaw brings a long record of climbing and stage-race work from EF Education-EasyPost.
