Sandra Alonso returns to Bizkaia-Durango

The Alicante rider Sandra Alonso will be be a rider of the Continental UCI Bizkaia-Durango team in 2021.

Alonso, who was already the team’s rider during 2018 and 2019, was one of the best cyclists in the country during 2020, with a seventh place in a Stage of the Giro, an eighth in the GC of the Challenge by La Vuelta and a twelfth in the European Under-23 Online Championship. Nationally, the Torrevejense cyclist shone greatly in the Euskaldun Tournament, winning in the three races in which she competed – Sopela, Segura and Larrabasterra.

Sandra Alonso’s statements:“I am very happy to return to Bizkaia-Durango after a year that has been difficult for everyone, but in which I have found myself very comfortable on the bike and I think I have had good performance. 2021 is going to be a beautiful and, I hope, more normal season, and I want to keep making progress in international careers to get closer to the best, getting more and more pace. I thank the team for the trust they have placed in me”.

Sandra Alonso is the fifteenth confirmed cyclist for Bizkaia-Durango in 2021, joining Daniela Campos (contracted until 2022), Emilie Fortin, Marina Garau, Ariana Gilabert, Nadine Gill, Lucía González, June Herrera, Lizzie Holden, Lydia Iglesias, Amaia Lartitegi, Lo Ireneizate, Irati Puigdefábregas and Julia Sánchez.
