Sara Penton (Retired)
Sara Penton is a retired Swedish professional cyclist who specialised in one-day racing and rolling terrain. A latecomer to elite cycling after previously playing football, she became Swedish road race champion in 2017 and spent six seasons racing internationally before retiring at the end of 2021.

Career overview
Penton began racing bikes in 2013 after previously pursuing football and progressed rapidly enough to join Lares-Waowdeals for her first UCI season in 2016. Her breakthrough came in 2017, when she won the Swedish road race championship and recorded top-ten stage finishes at both the Festival Elsy Jacobs and Women’s Tour. She added bronze in the national road race championship in 2018 and represented Sweden at the 2019 European Games in Minsk. Penton spent three seasons with Team Virtu Cycling before joining Drops for 2020, remaining with the British team as it became Drops-Le Col in 2021. Her final season included 23rd at Classic Brugge-De Panne before she retired from professional cycling at the end of the year.
