We’re facing the last two Ardennes Classics, of which Flèche Wallone is one. The race with the finish on top of the famous Mur de Huy, where Anna van der Breggen crossed the finish line first for six times. A record!
This year’s race will begin in Huy and follow a 130.2 kilometre course that includes six major climbs; Côte de Thon, Côte de Groynne, Côte de Haut-Bois, Côte de Gives, Mur de Huy (first passage), Côte d’Ereffe, Côte du Chemin des Gueuses and the finale up the Mur de Huy.
Our line-up includes Anna van der Breggen, Karol-Ann Canuel, Niamh Fisher-Black, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio. Anna Shackley and Demi Vollering. Not only van der Breggen has achieved some good results here. Both Moolman-Pasio and Vollering ended on the podium during the last two years.
Anna van der Breggen says: “It’s a special feeling that I’ve won this race already so many times. Maybe people might expect that I will win this race easily this year, but let’s not forget that we have some other riders who showed their strength to win this race too! The Mur de Huy is a climb which I like, but it’s a hard one as you need to keep going for a long way. I’m looking forward”.
