Wiktoria Pikulik’s career has just taken a big turn as she gears up to join Human Powered Health in 2024. This move not only marks a significant personal milestone for the 25-year-old Polish rider but also presents an opportunity for her to team up with her elder sister, Daria Pikulik, who too has renewed her commitment to the American outfit for another year.
Expressing her elation, Wiktoria paid homage to her humble beginnings with her Polish team, MAT Atom Deweloper Wrocław, and recognised the collective dream of becoming part of a Women’s WorldTour team. She acknowledged the pride her parents hold in witnessing both siblings embarking on this prestigious journey together, a sentiment that resonates deeply considering their shared history of competing and training side-by-side since the outset of their careers. The anticipation of tackling the grandest races in the company of her sister was palpable in her statement.
Wiktoria’s credentials as a rider are notable; becoming the Polish road race champion in 2022 stands as probably her best result so far. The past season saw her securing a commendable ninth place in the Veenendaal-Veenendaal Classic, which emerged as her standout result. Her role has often been that of a sprint lead-out, a critical aspect of track racing tactics, but her talent is not limited to the road. Alongside Daria, Wiktoria has also made waves in track cycling, the duo having competed in the madison at the Tokyo Olympics, where they impressively finished sixth.
The spotlight naturally shifts to Daria, Wiktoria’s sister, who has had a strong year with Human Powered Health. The 2023 season witnessed Daria claim victory in six races, with two of these triumphs at the pinnacle of the sport. Her wins at the opening stage of the Santos Tour Down Under and the Tour of Guangxi bookended the Women’s WorldTour, her victories marking both the start and culmination of the season’s elite racing. Daria’s sheer joy and the desire to echo her success into the following year could barely be contained, as she expressed her glee and aspirations for the team’s future.
