Snow cancelled GP Oetingen moved to Saturday 19 August 2023

Human Powered Health Car Snow GP Oetingen 2023

The GP Oetingen, which was originally scheduled for March 8th 2023 has been moved to August 19th 2023. The race was called off at the last minute after an overnight snowfall that almost saw the cancellation of the Ronde van Drenthe as well this year. The GP Oetingen race organisers have received the appropriate permissions to try and host the race again on Saturday 19th August.

“We then made the only and correct decision. However painful, especially financially, it was. We could not guarantee the safety of the riders and followers on March 8.”

Danny Schets, GP Oetingen race organisation

“But we really didn’t sit around for long. In the meantime we have the approval that our GP Oetingen will take place on August 19 and that under the category WE 1.1. The intention is to keep the same course that we had planned on March 8.

That means some hefty cobblestone zones with the climbs of the Congoberg and Rensberg in the two grand laps. During the six local circuits, the cobbles of the Kasseide in Lieferinge, the cobblestones of the Opperstebosstraat in Oetingen and the climb of the Bergstraat follow.

We also have our Gooikse Pijl for men in September. That is a lot of work in a very short period of time, but we organise with a big heart.

Steven Christiaens, GP Oetingen race organisation

The last held edition, in 2022, was won by Team DSM’s Lorena Wiebes.
