Team SD Worx-Protime has announced the signing of Swiss rider Steffi Häberlin for the 2025 + 2026 seasons, adding to their already strong roster. Häberlin, who made an impression during this year’s Tour de Suisse, is preparing for her debut in professional road cycling. The 26-year-old, transitioning from mountain biking, will focus on honing her road racing skills with one of the top teams in women’s cycling.
Sports manager Danny Stam shared his thoughts on Häberlin’s potential: “Steffi comes from mountain biking and has not actually been cycling for very long. At the Tour de Suisse, she immediately caught our eye. Because she hardly has any racing history on the road, we are convinced that she can still make great strides.”
Häberlin is recognised for her aggressive style, which fits well with the team’s racing philosophy. “She’s a rider who likes to race offensively, which suits our DNA. She is not afraid to get the lid on her nose and races with a lion’s heart,” Stam added. “Of course, she still needs to gain the necessary racing experience, but it is precisely in this area that she can still grow.”
Despite her limited time in road cycling, Häberlin has already shown her climbing potential, particularly in long mountain stages. Stam noted, “There are not many climbers who can keep up with the best on the long climbs. She has shown she has that potential. Although I am convinced she is employable in several areas.”
Häberlin’s journey into cycling began during the COVID-19 pandemic when, after studying medicine at university, she started riding with a friend who was a professional mountain biker. From there, her talent developed quickly, and she soon found herself competing in both mountain biking and road cycling. Her performance in the 2024 Tour de Suisse, where she fought her way into a breakaway on stage four, further cemented her decision to focus on the road.
