Strong performance Korevaar and Van der Hulst

The peloton in the Baloise Ladies Tour had two stages on Saturday. Jeanne Korevaar went on the attack in the morning stage and delivered a strong time trial later on the day. Amber van der Hulst sprinted to another podium spot in the morning stage.

The first part of the third stage brought the peloton from Cadzand to Knokke-Heist. Jeanne Korevaar went on adventure with Clara Lundmark. The duo took one minute advantage, but that wasn`t enough to surprise the peloton. All came back together with 9 kilometres to go. Amber van der Hulst was well positioned and took a second place behind Lorena Wiebes. “We are happy with this second place. Jeanne was in the breakaway, which was the ideal scenario for us. With the head wind in the finale I tried to save as much as energy as possible. In the sprint I finished second behind Wiebes, which felt good”, Van der Hulst told after the stage.

Saturday afternoon an individual time trial over 15,6 km waited for the riders. Despite being in the breakaway earlier on the day, Korevaar delivered a strong time trial as well. She stopped the clock after 20 minutes and 54 seconds, which meant an average of 44,785 km/h and a 9th place. “I feel that my condition is good. This morning I tried to get in the breakaway after missing out on the escape group yesterday. However we had no chance this morning, there were too many teams that wanted a bunch sprint. In the time trial I could keep my rhythm very well. I gave everything till the finish line and grabbed another top-10 spot”, Korevaar commented at the end of the day.
