Team Jayco AlUla confirms Mavi Garcia will join for 2 years after team merger

Mavi Garcia

The Australian cycling team, Team Jayco AlUla will be joining forces with Liv Racing TeqFind from 2024. That has meant they’re able to announce the signing of Spanish climber Mavi Garcia for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. This move is part of the team’s plan for 2024 and beyond, reflecting their ambition to become one of the top names in the women’s WorldTour peloton.

Mavi Garcia started focusing on cycling full-time only in 2018, having previously competed in Duathlon. In a short span of time, she’s achieved remarkable success, including a Giro d’Italia overall podium finish and victory in the challenging Classic Lorient Agglomération – Trophée Ceratizit in Plouay. She’s also been a fierce competitor in one-day races, finishing second in the iconic Strade Bianche.

Garcia’s aggressive racing approach, willingness to take risks, and proven leadership qualities are key assets that the Australian team believes will enhance their performance in the upcoming seasons. Her resilience, strength, and potential to win will complement the team’s pursuit of general classification success.

Team Jayco AlUla General Manager, Brent Copeland, expressed his excitement, saying, “Mavi is a very exciting addition to the team, she joins us as part of the exciting new project with Liv Cycling and having her come on-board is a very big boost for us. Mavi has shown that she is a very solid rider that is able to race up front with the general classification contenders. She is not afraid to attack, take risks and we have been impressed with her racing style over the years, despite coming into the WorldTour peloton at a fairly late age. Having Mavi onboard, I think it can change our approach and how we race going forward with having a real target in the Grand Tours which are becoming more and more demanding each season.”

Mavi Garcia also shared her thoughts: “I’m happy to join the team because from the outside it looks like a very nice atmosphere. I have always thought that it is a great structure, very professional and we had made some attempts before and finally now our paths meet. Every year I have been improving a lot, this year has not been the best for me, but I have also learned many things. I never go backwards, always forwards and above all with enthusiasm. I would like to be able to enjoy the races together in 2024 with the team and I hope that we can create a strong union to achieve victories. We will of course continue with Liv; the best bike I’ve had in the teams I’ve been on. I also like the philosophy of the brand and how much they contribute to women’s sports.”
