The Giro Rosa of Alé BTC Ljubljana is ended

The 2020 edition of the Giro Rosa is ended today with the ninth and last stage, 109.8 km with start and finish in Motta Montecorvino. Although with a bit of bad luck, the girls of the Alé BTC Ljubljana team were able to be protagonists in the nine stages of the race.

Today the stage was decided by a breakaway of fourteen riders who arrived at the finish line. The Slovenian Eugenia Bujak and the Italian Tatiana Guderzo were, then finished in eighth and twelfth position in the sprint, respectively. The winner was the French Evita Muzic (FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futurescope).

The final classification of the Giro Rosa 2020 awarded the Dutchwoman Anna Van der Breggen (Boels – Dolmans), while the Spanish Mavi Garcia, the rider designated to cure the general classification in Alé team, has been very good at gritting her teeth in recent days, resisting the aftermath of a bad fall and entering the final top 10 with an excellent ninth place.

Alé BTC Ljubljana sports director Fortunato Lacquaniti said: “Considering how we started out with two substitutions out of six athletes in the race, I have to say that the team race well. Also today we interpreted the race well and included two athletes in the breakaway of 14 who decided the stage. We bring home a second stage place with Eugenia Bujak protagonist of a long breakaway, excellent performances of the whole team and Mavi Garcia who, even after the fall, was always there to fight with the best in the classification. Today she gave up a couple of positions, but that’s okay. Let’s just say that luck hasn’t helped us in this Giro”.

Now a few days to recover some physical and mental energy and then next week it will already be time for the UCI Road World Championship in Imola.
