In a historic first, the 2025 Tour de France Femmes is expected to commence in Brittany, specifically in the region of Lorient, according to sources like Le Telegramme. The region has not hosted the Grand Depart since Brest in 2021, marking a significant return to the area for the famed cycling race.

This anticipated move follows a series of diverse Grand Depart locations in recent years: Paris in 2022, Clermont-Ferrand in 2023, and Rotterdam scheduled for 2024. With the resurgence of women’s cycling and the event’s growing prominence, the Regional Council of Brittany has been in close negotiations with the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), headed by Marion Rousse, to secure this prestigious start.

If confirmed, the 2025 edition will feature the Grand Depart and two or three stages in Brittany, offering a thrilling start to the race. The interest and investment from the region underscore its commitment to supporting women’s cycling at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Spanish media have suggested that the 2027 Tour de France Femmes might kick off in Bilbao, located in the Basque Country. However, these rumours remain unconfirmed, as no official announcements have been made regarding these future Grand Depart locations.
