Van Vleuten, without trouble before Norefjell; Biannic, in the break

Tour of Norway (Stage 2)

Riejanne Markus (TJV) wins from another decisive break in which Aude was present, escaping until the last 20 km. Annemiek and Sheyla Gutiérrez, finished in the first group.

The breakaway again surprised a fast and uncontrolled peloton in the Ladies Tour of Norway 2021, marked by strong wind and, in its final part, rain in the 145 km between Askim and Mysen. Riejanne Markus (TJV) took the stage victory after leaving behind an initial duo with Cordon Ragot (TJV) and her compatriot Aude Biannic (Movistar Team).

The Brittany rider jumped ninety kilometres from the end and, despite the closeness of the peloton at all times, which never allowed them more than 2 minutes, she kept her head until the last 25 km, with Markus already alone on a reduced peloton in the last climbs.

Annemiek van Vleuten (17th) and Sheyla Gutiérrez were present for the Movistar Team in a final group in which she was close to supporting Barbara Guarischi, who fought until the end to compete in the sprint. Tomorrow, Saturday, the telephone squad will focus on Annemiek’s options -12th overall, without giving time – in the crucial ascent to Norefjell, with 10.5 km at 6%.
