Vittoria Bussi
Vittoria Bussi is an Italian cyclist and one of the most accomplished hour record specialists in women’s cycling. A former middle-distance runner and mathematician, she came to cycling relatively late before developing into a leading time-trialist. Bussi became the first woman to break the 50-kilometre barrier for the UCI Hour Record in 2023 and extended her own record to 50.455 kilometres in May 2025.

Career overview
Bussi moved into cycling after a background in athletics and completed a doctorate in pure mathematics at Oxford before pursuing elite sport. She raced professionally with S.C. Michela Fanini Rox and Servetto Footon and finished third in the 2014 Italian time-trial championship. Her career became increasingly focused on the track and the Hour Record. Bussi set a world record of 48.007 kilometres in 2018 before reclaiming it in October 2023 with 50.267 kilometres, becoming the first woman to exceed 50 kilometres in an hour. After stepping away from competition, she returned in 2025 and improved the record again to 50.455 kilometres in Aguascalientes. She also set a world record in the four-kilometre individual pursuit during the same record-focused campaign.
