Laura Tomasi third at the Trofeo Oro in Euro in Montignoso

Alé BTC Ljubljana was the protagonist this weekend on the roads of Tuscany. The best result came today in Montignoso, in the province of Massa, where the Trofeo Oro in Euro, a Women’s Elite race on the national calendar, was held. Third place in the sprint for young Laura Tomasi, who after the bad luck of the day before at the Strade Bianche, redeemed herself today with a fine performance.

There were only four athletes of Alé BTC Ljubljana in the race today, all of them Italian: Alessia Patuelli and Anna Trevisi worked for the team, the latter stood out even entering a breakaway attempt. Tatiana Guderzo set the pace on the climb to try and select the group and acted as director for her young teammate Tomasi who then played out her chances in the sprint.

The winner was Rachele Barbieri of Gs Fiamme Oro and second Vittoria Guazzini of Valcar – Travel & Service. A placement that gives morale to the whole team waiting to return to Belgium for the next appointments in the North.

“More than this today we could not do – admits Laura Tomasi – We knew that Rachele Barbieri today was the athlete to beat. Tatiana, at the second passage in climb, tried to force the rhythm to make selection, but then Fiamme Oro closed the gap. It remains a good placement and I’m very happy with my start to the season. Yesterday I was a bit unlucky because a mechanical failure prevented me from giving even more help to my teammates, but also today I showed to be well”.

In fact, yesterday the team of the team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti had raced, always in Tuscany, also the Strade Bianche Women Elite, a test of the UCI Women’s World Tour, with 8 sections of gravel. A tough and very demanding race. The Spanish Mavi Garcia remained in the group of the best until the final dirt road when she was unable to keep up the pace and eventually finished in 13th place. President Alessia Piccolo was also in the team car following this very impressive and spectacular race.
