Canyon SRAM has formally confirmed Scalable Capital as its third title partner for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, nine days after the new name appeared on the UCI’s first list of Women’s WorldTeam applicants for next year.
From 1 January 2027, the WorldTour squad will race as Canyon SRAM Scalable Capital, with its development team adopting the name Canyon SRAM Scalable Capital Generation. The agreement expands a partnership that began during this year’s Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, rather than introducing an entirely new sponsor.
The name was already on the UCI registration list
The confirmation comes after the UCI published its initial 2027 registration applications on Monday 19 October. Canyon SRAM Scalable Capital was among the twelve named applicants for Women’s WorldTeam status, so the identity of the new title sponsor had already become public ahead of Wednesday’s announcement.
What the team has now clarified is the extent and duration of the arrangement. Scalable Capital will be a title partner alongside Canyon and SRAM for two seasons, and its branding will extend to the Continental-level Generation squad as well as the WorldTour team.
The UCI’s October list is not the final confirmation of 2027 licences. As ProCyclingUK reported when the applicants were announced, the governing body is assessing the registrations and expects to publish its final list on 8 December.
Partnership began at the Tour de France Femmes
Scalable Capital first joined the team in August, when its logo appeared on riders’ helmets and team vehicles at the Tour de France Femmes Grand Départ in Lausanne. The Munich-based digital banking and investment business has now moved from a supporting sponsorship position to a place in the team’s official racing name.
The increased commitment also follows a change in Canyon SRAM’s commercial backing earlier this year. The team ended its title sponsorship arrangement with cryptocurrency company zondacrypto in May, citing contractual breaches, before reverting to the Canyon SRAM name during the summer.
Jonas Möslein, the team’s head of business, called Scalable Capital’s decision to become a title partner “a strong vote of confidence for the team, the sport, and the progress that we’re making together.”
Scalable Capital says the partnership is intended to encourage greater participation by women in both cycling and personal finance. Chief marketing officer Maximilian Meyer drew a comparison between the persistence needed to succeed in sport and the long-term approach to investing. The financial value of the new sponsorship has not been disclosed.
New title partner for a changing roster
The naming agreement arrives as Canyon SRAM reshapes its team for 2027. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney is leaving for Lidl-Trek, while the squad is adding experience through Lucinda Brand’s two-year deal and bringing younger talent through its development pathway.
That pathway is part of the sponsorship announcement, not an afterthought. The Generation programme has operated as a bridge into top-level racing, and Emily Dixon’s promotion to the WorldTour squad for 2027 is one example of how the team uses it.
The WorldTour and Generation teams will begin the new season under the Scalable Capital name on 1 January. The agreement runs through 2028, although neither partner has disclosed the sponsorship fee or any resulting change to the team’s racing budget.
