Aude Biannic, ‘a lifetime’ with Movistar Team: renewed until 2024

Extend your contract for two more years

The Breton, one of the four runners who have remained in the ‘telephone’ team since its foundation in 2018, is guaranteed at least seven seasons with the ‘blue’ jersey.

Eager to continue counting on one of the most solid and reliable riders in its ranks, the Movistar Team announces the renewal of Aude Biannic (Landerneau, FRA; 1991) for the next two seasons, 2023 and 2024.

The value of the Breton runner has been seen in the same way in the individual and collective plans. In recent years, she has been the main support of the telephone leaders, currently closely linked to Emma Norsgaard -her guide in sprints or great classics- or Annemiek van Vleuten. And she has stood out with high-level performances in Worldtour events such as The Women’s Tour (5th in 2021), Paris-Roubaix -in the fight to the finish last year- or Norway (6th in 2018). She achieved the Movistar Team’s first UCI victory -the prologue of the Lotto Belgium Tour 2018-, she wore the national champion’s jersey and her presence in World or European Championships is constant.

Biannic is one of only four cyclists who have been part of all the Movistar Team women’s squads, since the team was founded in 2018. With this renewal, the French cyclist ensures that she will be part of the Abarca Sports structure for at least , seven campaigns.

Aude Biannic: «Very proud to be able to continue with this team, which for me is already a real family, with whose members I feel very, very good. It’s going to be seven years with the team and I see that every season we grow a lot, that the level of each one of us and as a whole improves, and that gives you a lot of motivation. The decision to continue has been easy because of how I feel here and because of the confidence that everyone gives me. I face the coming months with great enthusiasm; the objective is to do the best possible in Giro Donne and Tour Femmes, because with the great team we have and the ambition with which we start, to aspire to victory in both, the motivation is maximum. For me it will be a very special July for that first Tour, in my country, before my people. I hope to be able to reach my best level to give my best and that together with the Movistar Team we can achieve great joy”.

Sebastián Unzué: «Very, very, very happy about this renewal. Aude is one of the girls that she has been with us since the first year. In recent years she has become one of the fundamental pillars of the team. She has earned the trust of our leaders, for whom she is of the utmost importance, and furthermore, when she has had the opportunity to fight for results and take results, she has been able to perform in a very good manner. It was very important to close her continuity and be able to do it for two years, because extending her contract until 2024, the year of the Paris Olympics, gives this link a very special meaning. Looking forward to continuing to work well with her in 2022; to see her in the best way in Giro and Tour, where I think she will be essential for the ambitious goals we have; and looking forward to these next two years and seeing her continue to grow, establishing herself as one of the greats of the squad. Very grateful for the trust that she has placed in us; They have been in this structure for many years and it is to be praised for her commitment and that she continues to want to write beautiful pages here ».
