Boom: “Hopefully we will see Liv Racing from a stronger side in Gold Race”

Pauliena Rooijakkers finished tenth in the Brabantse Pijl on Wednesday afternoon. She sprinted for seventh place, after the six escapees had crossed the finish line a minute earlier. Ruth Winder took the victory flowers.

Liv Racing did not manage to leave a mark on the race this time around. The team started with five riders, because Sofia Bertizzolo had not been replaced after she was deemed unfit on Tuesday. During the race, Evy Kuijpers also indicated that she was not quite right. “Annoying for her and unfortunate for the team”, said sports director Lars Boom afterwards.

“Valerie Demey attacked early in the race and tried to create a favourable situation which unfortunately did not work, but she cannot be criticised for having tried. We were not positioned well enough at the decisive moments during the rest of the race which forces you to ride in the back, leading to an unnecessary and disappointing situation. I know what this team is capable of and hope we will see Liv Racing in the Gold Race again as usual.”
