Liv Racing Xstra started on a high note in the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas. Czech champion Tereza Neumanova sprinted to a strong second place.
The Vuelta a Burgos Feminas got on its way with a stage from Pedrosa del Principe to Aranda de Duero. Liv Racing Xstra started the race with four instead of five riders while Katia Ragusa couldn`t take the start due to illness.
The stage was mostly flat and was animated by three riders, who attacked right after the start. With 35 kilometres to the escapees were caught. Some kilometres later the peloton headed south-east when several teams tried to force echelons in the peloton. A group of 60 riders came into the last kilometre and sprinted for the stage win. Behind Lotte Kopecky, our Czech champion Tereza Neumanova powered to the runner up spot.
“I am very happy. We all deserved this result and I`m glad it really worked out today. The echelons made it hard in the final, but with help from the team, I stayed in a good position. I tried to save as much energy as possible for the uphill sprint. I had the power to do a really strong sprint and finish on the podium. I think I was happier than the stage winner. It feels really great to be here after the health issues I had since the beginning of the season”, a relieved Neumanova said after the stage.
“This is a really good start to this race. I hope all the bad luck is now behind us. We really looked forward to this stage and believed in the qualities of Tereza. In the echelons the girls protected Tereza and we are really proud it worked out this way. It is nice to see Tereza grab that podium spot today”, sports director Giorgia Bronzini commented.
