Carrefour continue to sponsor the Vuelta a Espana red jersey and will be name sponsor for the women’s Vuelta

Annemiek van Vleuten. 2022 Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta. Stage 2: Colindres. 8.9.2022.

The French supermarket chain Carrefour will sponsor the leader’s jersey of the Vuelta a Espana again in 2023. The brand has almost 1,500 stores in Spain and uses the race as one of its major marketing exercises each year. The partnership is a long-running one with 2023 the 11th year in a row that the chain has its logo on the Vuelta’s main race jersey.

For the first time in 2023, Carrefour will also be the name sponsor for the entire women’s race. The Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta has been given a new name and a new spot in the calendar next year. The Ceratizit Challenge name has been dropped and replaced by ‘La Vuelta Feminina by Carrefour.es’. The catchy name will no doubt be repeated plenty. Carrefour will also sponsor the leader’s jersey in that race, taking up a prominent position in Spain’s premier women’s stage race in the 2023 calendar. The race itself is expanded to 7 stages and will take place between May 1st and May 7th, a departure from its previous late-season spot.

Annemiek van Vleuten won the 2022 edition, completing the set of 3 major grand tours won in a calendar year.

“This gives us the certainty and guarantee to continue the project in the future, to make this race even bigger.”

Javier Guillén, Vuelta a Espana director
