Christine Majerus was the best rider of the Boels Dolmans team today with a fifth place after going all the way in the sprint of the bunch. Today again we saw a great and difficult race with some very tough climbs. As team we rode a good race, says DS Danny Stam. In the toughest part of the race we couldnt follow Annemiek van Vleuten and Longo Borghini. Anna tried to close the gap with somewhat the same group as they made the final with yesterday. In the final 30km the headwind caused that many riders came back into that group. We tried to close the gap but didn’t get a meter nearer to the head of the race. In the sprint Majerus gave all and finished fifth.
“It was again a hard stage. I survived the hardest middle part of the race and then after I was allowed to sit in the wheels and focus on my sprint. We rode nice together as a unit everyone tried to get into breakaways which was nice to see. The chase behind the final breakaway wasnt organized enough to close the gap so we satisfied with going for a sprint.”
