Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour de Feminin brought a reshuffling of the general classification and a breakthrough win for Robyn Clay. The British rider timed her move perfectly on the final descent into Rumburk, holding off Kate Richardson and Emilie Fortin in a tense finale. Richardson’s second place was enough to move her into the overall lead heading into the final stage.
The 110.7-kilometre route around Rumburk offered little respite, with strong winds and frequent rain showers breaking up the peloton early on. Karoline Goldschmidt again dominated the mountains competition, sweeping all three QOM sprints to tighten her grip on the jersey.
The first half of the stage was animated by multiple small moves, including a short-lived effort featuring Goldschmidt, Barbora Němcová, Tess Moerman and Nele Laing. After several attacks were brought back, Malwina Mul made a key move after the second climb to take bonus seconds at the intermediate sprint, briefly putting her in the virtual race lead.
The decisive move formed in the final 20 kilometres when Emilie Fortin, Kate Richardson, Tamsin Miller and Esther Wong escaped from the bunch. With 11km to go, Clay attacked out of the lead group on a descent and opened a gap, forcing Fortin and Richardson to chase.
Richardson and Fortin caught Clay just before the line, but Clay had the fastest kick and took the win. With the peloton finishing nearly a minute down, Richardson’s time gain was enough to overhaul Mul for the overall lead.
It was a double celebration for British cycling in Rumburk, with both the stage win and the leader’s jersey changing hands in their favour. The final stage will now see the yellow jersey on Richardson’s shoulders, with everything to play for on the last day.
