Lucy van der Haar (Retired)
Lucy van der Haar is a retired British cyclist who raced professionally between 2013 and 2020. Formerly known as Lucy Garner, she was one of Britain’s leading young sprinters after winning consecutive junior road race world titles in 2011 and 2012. Van der Haar went on to win stages at the Tour of Chongming Island and La Route de France before finishing her career with overall victory at the Dubai Women’s Tour in 2020.

Career overview
Van der Haar, who raced under her maiden name Lucy Garner for much of her career, won the junior road race world title in both 2011 and 2012 before turning professional with Team Argos-Shimano in 2013. She immediately won a stage of the Tour of Chongming Island and later added a stage of La Route de France in 2015. After three seasons with the Shimano-backed team, she moved to Wiggle High5 and later Hitec Products-Birk Sport. Her final season produced one of her biggest successes when she won a stage and the overall classification at the 2020 Dubai Women’s Tour. Van der Haar retired from professional cycling at the end of 2020.
