Drops Cycling Team is pleased to announce that Emily Meakin will race in the team colours in 2020.

Meakin raced on the road for Belgian team Isorex during 2019 gaining valuable classics experience. Something that she is keen to take into 2020. Her strength shone through during her time-trial races where she represented The Independent Pedaler team.

A result which stood out was her 6th place finish at the National Time Time Championships. In addition, she took home the National 25 Mile Time Trial Championship earlier this year.

Team Director, Bob Varney spoke about securing Emily’s signature.

“We’re all delighted to welcome Emily to the team for the 2020 season. She will play an important role in our Lead Out train and be an important part of our Classics and TT squads. Life often presents unexpected opportunities and I’m convinced that Emily will grasp this one with both hands. She is already immersed in a high performance training environment and is clearly very motivated to continue improving. I’m really excited to see how far she can go!”

Meakin, who used to play Rugby to a high level came to Cycling quite late but has wasted no time in making her mark in the sport.

Emily Meakin spoke about joining the team.

“I’m really excited to join Drops. I’ve been inspired by the team, and it’s riders, since I first started racing, so it’s surreal, yet amazing moment to be part of it all for 2020.” Meakin said.
