Grace finishes 2nd in the Women’s Tour

Grace Brown takes 2nd place in the general classification of the Women’s Tour 2022

Today was the final stage of the Women’s Tour, 143 kilometres between Chippping Norton and Oxford. Grace Brown took the start of the stage this morning with the jersey and the whole team worked again today to keep it until Oxford. By winning a successful intermediate sprint, Grace widened the gap somewhat with her competitor Elisa Long Borghini. But this one took third place in the massive sprint that took place at the finish, thus gaining bonus seconds. Clara, who took part in this sprint, took second place in the stage behind Lorena Wiebes (DSM) who won the stage.

At the end of these 6 days of racing Grace Brwon takes second place in the general classification. To remember from the 2022 edition of the Women’s Tour, 2 stage wins by Clara Copponi and Grace Brown, and 4 days in yellow (two days each), and a very big collective work!

Grace reflects on her race: “I want to say a big thank you to my team, because they’ve all been amazing during the week, protecting me! We really thought we were going to have a great win today. It was a bit of a surprise at the finish that Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek Segafredo) took third place and the bonus seconds. It’s a little disappointing for sure, but overall I think we can be very proud of this week. Second, it’s always something to celebrate I think. From this week, I think I will remember the very good times we had with the team!”
