The riders experienced a tough edition of the second race of the Ardennes classics with a lot of wind and rain. The pace was high during the entire race and no rider was spared.

With fifty kilometres remaining, a strong group of riders was able to break away. Demi Vollering led the chasing group on to the climb of La Redoute but despite her efforts they couldn’t chase down the leaders. After Lizzie Deignan attacked and soloed to the win, Vollering finished second in the bunch sprint of the second group.

”We did all we could but unfortunately it wasn’t enough today.” – Demi Vollering

Demi tells: ‘’Sometimes you have to take a gamble and today we took the wrong one. We weren’t there when the decisive breakaway was formed. Eventually, I tried to force something and even got away with two others for a while, but the collaboration wasn’t great. We had an off day with the team but hopefully, we’ll find each other again in the next races.’’
