The final stage is another hilly Classics-style race and should keep the overall classification open until Sunday.
Leuven’s repeated short climbs provide numerous opportunities for attacks, while bonus seconds can become crucial if the GC is close.

Stage 2 should be the clearest sprint day
Thursday’s route from Blankenberge to Ardooie gives the pure sprinters their most obvious opportunity.
The profile is predominantly flat and Ardooie has a long history of producing bunch finishes. The main complication is the wind, particularly on the exposed roads of West Flanders.
A strong crosswind can split the peloton even when the route profile looks completely harmless, so GC contenders cannot simply switch off for the day.
If the wind remains manageable, this should be the stage where the biggest sprint teams have the most control.
Stage 1 could be more selective than expected
The opening stage around Diest is harder to predict.
The Hageland roads contain repeated short rises without one major climb capable of defining the stage. That makes the route suitable for powerful sprinters, puncheurs and Classics riders rather than one obvious specialist.
The first leader’s jersey will also be available, increasing the value of the finish bonuses and encouraging teams to race more aggressively than they might on a conventional opening sprint stage.
Stage 4 gives the sprinters another opportunity
Riemst to Bilzen-Hoeselt should offer another chance to the faster riders, although it is less straightforward than Ardooie.
The Limburg terrain is rolling and the finish rises slightly, which should favour sprinters capable of handling repeated short climbs.
Coming between Geraardsbergen and Leuven, it may also be a stage where the leading GC teams prefer to conserve energy rather than forcing another difficult day.

The Renewi Tour is one of the most unusual stage races on the WorldTour calendar.
There are no high mountains and there is no individual time trial in 2026. Instead, the overall winner has to survive terrain more closely associated with the spring Classics.
That means crosswinds, cobbles, positioning and short climbs can all decide the GC.
A conventional climber cannot rely on a summit finish to gain minutes. A pure time triallist has no stage against the clock. Even the sprinters can remain in the overall battle if they survive Geraardsbergen and Leuven.
