Katie Archibald (Retired)

Katie Archibald is a retired British cyclist and one of the most successful track endurance riders in British cycling history. The Scottish rider won two Olympic gold medals, seven world titles and a record 21 European titles during a career spanning more than a decade at the highest level. Although best known for her achievements on the track, Archibald also competed professionally on the road with teams including Ceratizit-WNT, Wiggle High5 and Team WNT before bringing her competitive cycling career to an end in May 2026.

Career overview

Archibald joined the Great Britain track programme in 2013 and rapidly became one of the world’s leading endurance riders. She won Olympic team pursuit gold at Rio 2016 before taking Madison gold alongside Laura Kenny and team pursuit silver at Tokyo 2020. Her career ultimately included seven world titles and 21 European titles across events including the team pursuit, Madison, omnium and individual pursuit. Archibald also maintained a selective road career, winning the 2018 BeNe Ladies Tour prologue and racing professionally with WNT, Wiggle High5 and Ceratizit-WNT. After missing the Paris 2024 Olympics through injury, she returned to win further world titles, including the Madison in 2025, before retiring from competitive cycling in May 2026.
