Laura Vainionpää

Laura Vainionpää is a Finnish cyclist who races for Carbonbike Giordana Sofré by Gen Z. A strong time-trialist and durable one-day rider, she has spent much of her career racing in Belgium while remaining a regular contender in the Finnish national championships. Vainionpää has collected several road race and time-trial podiums at national level and also represented Finland at the World Championships.

Career overview

Vainionpää progressed from Finnish domestic racing into the Belgian scene before spending the 2018 season at UCI level with Health Mate-Cyclelive Team. She represented Finland in the road race at the 2016 and 2017 World Championships and has repeatedly challenged for national honours, finishing second in the Finnish road race championship in 2015, 2016 and 2022 alongside several further podiums against the clock. Her strongest international stage-race result came at the 2022 Tour of Uppsala, where she finished seventh overall and third on the final stage. Vainionpää has remained active in Belgian club racing since leaving the UCI peloton and continues with Carbonbike Giordana Sofré by Gen Z in 2026.
