Liv AlUla Jayco Prepares for 2024 Santos Tour Down Under

Ruby Roseman-Gannon

Team Jayco AlUla, known as Liv AlUla Jayco in 2024, is set to compete in the Santos Tour Down Under from 12th to 14th January, marking the start of the 2024 UCI Women’s WorldTour. The Australian team, buoyed by a stage win in 2023, is looking forward to competing in Adelaide, the hometown of Alex Manly, a key team member. Manly is aiming for more success following her memorable stage victory and time in the Ochre jersey last year.

Ruby Roseman-Gannon, who narrowly missed the podium in 2023 with a fourth-place overall finish, will join the team again. The squad is also bolstered by the addition of 21-year-old New Zealander Ella Wyllie, who is expected to be a strong contender for the general classification. Wyllie’s previous performance, including a runner-up finish in the Young Riders classification and eighth place overall in the previous edition, adds to the team’s prospects.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Georgia Baker enhances the team’s strength. Georgie Howe and Australian criterium champion Amber Pate, who have completed their first full season as WorldTour professionals in Europe, bring valuable experience and versatility to the team, completing the six-rider lineup.

Sport Director Megan Chard emphasizes the team’s preparation and confidence, aiming to start the season on a high note. The balanced team, comprising five Australians and one New Zealander, is well-suited to the varied terrain and stage types of the event.

Santos Tour Down Under Race Director Stuart O’Grady OAM acknowledges the excitement surrounding the team, especially for local hero Alexandra Manly. The team’s strong lineup and strategic approach indicate a multifaceted strategy aiming for victories in Adelaide, enhancing the anticipation for their performance at this significant event.
