Liv Racing Xstra ends Baloise Ladies Tour with double top-10

Despite several tries of Liv Racing Xstra the fourth and final stage ended in a bunch sprint again. Amber van der Hulst and Alison Jackson finished both in the top-5.

Liv Racing Xstra was very active in the first part of the final stage. Jeanne Korevaar, Sabrina Stultiens and Alison Jackson tried to get in the day`s breakaway several times. The peloton didn`t let them go and brought all attempts back. Eventually three riders went clear and animated the rest of the stage. The final member of the breakaway was caught in the second last kilometre, so another bunch sprint had to bring the decision. As all sprints in this race Lorena Wiebes took the win. Amber van der Hulst sprinted to a fourth place, just in front of team mate Alison Jackson.

“After our initial plan to get in the breakaway didn`t work out the girls looked after me the whole stage. In the finale Jeanne brought me to the front, so I was well positioned for an important corner. In the final metres the things didn`t go as I wanted, so that is a real pity. Still I am happy with this race. It feels good to be back in the peloton and I feel my sprint gets better again. As team we rode a good race. We found each other better and better in the peloton and finished in the top-10 of every stage. So we can be satisfied with this race”, said Van der Hulst.

The overall win went to Ellen van Dijk, who won both time trials in this race. Alison Jackson ended as seventh in the overall classification. “We worked well together as team today. We made some hard attacks and in the end we tried to get Amber in a good position for the sprint. For myself I had a good day in the second stage and improved my position in the GC after the time trial. We had a lot of fun as a team and were able to accomplish some of the goals we set at the beginning of the week”, Jackson told after the race.
