Today’s opening stage of the 2024 UAE Tour Women sees a flat stage that should ultimately come down to a sprint. Lorena Wiebes is the big favourite with no Charlotte Kool here due to illness and should take the win. The entertainment will be provided by the wind in the open desert sections. It’s a strong westerly, around 19km/h with gusts up to 32km/h. It will be a small miracle if all of the peloton is still intact by the end of the stage. GC riders will have to be very careful not to lose the race on Stage 1.
