Marlen Reusser is silver medallist at the ITT World Championship in Flanders

Swiss rider Marlen Reusser once again takes the Alé BTC Ljubljana team to the top of international women’s cycling. The freshly crowned European champion took the silver medal today in Bruges, Belgium, at the Women’s Elite ITT World Championships in Flanders.

The strong athlete from Switzerland came very close to the title, she hoped for it and with her the whole Italian team. For only 10 seconds she had to surrender to an extraordinary Ellen Van Dijk in a day of grace. The Dutchwoman offered a perfect performance that earned her the gold medal. A second place, therefore, of great value for Reusser, who this year, in addition to the aforementioned European gold and world silver medals, also took the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. And it was precisely Olympic champion Annemiek Van Vleuten who came third today, behind the Swiss. And let’s not forget that Marlen Reusser is also national road and time trial champion this year. These results, added to those obtained in the jersey of Alé BTC Ljubljana, such as the recent stage victory at the women’s Vuelta, make Marlen’s season and that of the entire team an extraordinary one, lived at the top of world cycling.

Today is Marlen Reusser‘s 30th birthday and she would have liked a present of the most precious metal: “Honestly I’m very disappointed because I was aiming for victory today. Of course a silver medal at the World Championships is an important result for me and for the whole team, but at the end of my performance I can’t hide a bit of disappointment that I didn’t manage to win. After the European Championships I showed that I was in great shape, I was very motivated and I played my best. I lost by ten seconds, it’s part of the game. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I will try again”.
