Mixed feelings for NXTG

This weekend the NXTG by Experza team took part in the two opening races of the Flemish cycling season. Both at Omloop Het Nieuwsland on Saturday and Omloop van het Hageland the day after the team had beautiful weather circumstances but especially on Sunday we encountered bad luck.

The Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was a hard race as expected but the riders did really well with a fantastic 14th place for Julia as top result.

“I really enjoyed myself in the race today. Jolien gave some tips and tricks and really gave some good guidance. I found a good rhythm straight away. It was such a fun day!”

Sports director Jolien d’Hoore was happy.

“I am happy with today. The girls positioned themselves well, they were motivated and driven. We encountered some mechanical bad luck on Haaghoek with Ilse. This was unfortunate because she felt really good. All our riders were in the race until the end. Julia managed to stay in that front group riding for place three. her 14th place was a good result for the team.”

On Sunday a team of youngsters lined up for NXTG by Experza. Senne, Maureen, Fien and Amber started as first year pros with Cassia and Amelia in Omloop van het Hageland. It was a very nervous and hard race.

Maureen was the only one to finish the race in 65th place.

“It was a very chaotic race but I was happy I could follow. Unfortunately I had a mechanical issue in the last lap and had to let the peloton go. It was a great opener to the season and I am looking forward to the next races

I hope my colleagues recover fast because they had even more bad luck than I had today.”

Senne had a crash but was relatively okay. Unfortunately Fien went down really hard and sustained a jaw fracture. She had surgery and faces a long recovery
