More medals for the Astana Women’s Team are coming from the various National Championships around the world: first it was Olga Shekel with the time trial gold and the bronze in the road race, then yesterday it was the young Lithuanian Olivija Baleisyte who brought the turquoise jersey of the Italian-Kazakh team on the podium. The road race of Lithuania’s Championships, held in Jonava over a distance of 101 kilometres, ended in a sprint after about two and a half hours of racing and Baleisyte finished third, thus improving the fourth place previously obtained in the individual time trial.
In the past, Baleisyte had already obtained a pair of second places, the road race and time trial, in the 2018 National Championships. The young Lithuanian rider is now planning to participate in the European Championships with her national team and then she will join her teammates of Astana Women’s Team to compete in La Course by le Tour on August 29th in Nice.
