Omloop der Kempen: time for another sprint

Liv Racing Xstra is back in The Netherlands for the Omloop der Kempen Ladies. The purple train starts with a strong team and aims for a bunch sprint.

The Omloop der Kempen Ladies will take place for the 25th time, but for the first time as a 1.2 UCI Race. The flat race goes over 122,4 km with start and finish in Veldhoven. There is a big possibility for a bunch sprint. Liv Racing Xstra starts with a strong team which aims to play an important role in the race and the sprint. Rachele Barbieri, Eva Buurman, Valerie Demey, Amber van der Hulst and Quinty Ton will defend the team colors during this race.

For Van der Hulst it is her first race after a busy and hard spring classic season. The Dutch rider was second in the Omloop der Kempen in 2019 and has good memories to this race. “It is a nice race, most of the time suited for the sprinters. Depending on the weather conditions it can be a hard race with echelons, but I think the wind won`t be a big factor tomorrow. After Paris-Roubaix I did a race on the track in Glasgow and took some rest afterwards. It was a busy spring campaign and I was feeling tired, so I was glad I could take some rest and then get back to my training. In Spain I could do some good training sessions and recharge the batteries for the second part of the season. The Kempen will be my first race and I am looking for to it”, Van der Hulst told.

“We start with a strong squad, which has to be capable to play a big role in this race. I feel good and want to be there in the finale with the team. Depending on the scenario in the race and our feeling we will decide who will do the sprint for the team. The most important thing is that we have to try and get a nice result.”
