Petit Yellow Vélo partners with Alba Development Road Team to fuel women’s cycling in Scotland

Petit Yellow Vélo has joined forces with the Alba Development Road Team to support women’s cycling in Scotland. The speciality coffee shop and roastery in Crieff recently hosted members of the UCI Continental women’s cycling team to mark the launch of their partnership with a limited-edition coffee bean.

Jennifer Kaczmarski, the Founder and Director of Petit Yellow Vélo, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the values and commitment of the Alba team aligned perfectly with her business. “As soon as we met the staff and riders of Alba Development Road Team, we knew we wanted to support them in any way we could,” she said. Kaczmarski added that the partnership is not just about providing coffee but also about fostering a sense of community and empowerment within the sport.

The partnership was celebrated with the release of a special single-origin coffee from Guatemala. The beans, sourced by the Scotland-based ethical importer Caribbean Goods, were selected with the help of the Alba team, who took part in the sampling process to find the perfect flavour profile. This limited-edition coffee will feature exclusive artwork by Scotland-based illustrator Emily Wylde, which will be showcased on the packaging and related merchandise.

Bob Lyons, Performance Director and Team Manager of the Alba Development Road Team highlighted the significance of the collaboration, particularly in terms of supporting the riders beyond just their physical performance. “This partnership with a similarly ambitious, Scottish-based, woman-owned business fits perfectly with what we’re trying to do with Alba Development Road Team,” Lyons said. He also remarked on the importance of the monthly coffee deliveries for the riders and the added value of having their own Alba-labelled coffee. Lyons sees this partnership as an opportunity for the team to gain experience in different aspects of sports and business, enriching their time with the team.

As part of the partnership, Petit Yellow Vélo is also hosting a photography exhibition by Scotland-based photographer Jude Bytheway. The exhibition, which runs until 14th September 2024, provides an immersive experience into the lives and dedication of the Alba Development Road Team, offering visitors to the Crieff shop a unique glimpse into the world of women’s cycling.

Cycling and coffee enthusiasts can purchase the limited edition coffee online or by visiting Petit Yellow Vélo on Crieff High Street, where they can also explore the exhibition and other cycling-themed merchandise.
