Quinty Ton Faces Lengthy Recovery After Training Accident

Quinty Ton

Quinty Ton, a 25-year-old Dutch cyclist riding for Liv AlUla Jayco, finds herself in a challenging situation after being struck by a car during a training session, resulting in multiple fractures and contusions.

Expressing her disappointment via her Instagram, Ton shared, “I was really motivated to kick off my spring campaign after seeing my teammates in action in Australia and the United Arab Emirates. But unfortunately, I’m now spending most of my time in hospital.” She detailed the incident, stating, “I was hit by a car while out training in Belgium. It was on the wrong side of the road and travelling at high speed.”

Ton sustained severe injuries, including a fractured pelvis, broken hand, several contusions, and internal bleeding. However, she expressed gratitude that her Liv Cycling bike and helmet played a crucial role in saving her life.

The upcoming period will be focused on rehabilitation, as Ton aims to make a comeback. “All I can do now is work towards my return, and that’s exactly what I’ll do! In the meantime, I’ll continue to support the team. I want to thank everyone for their support.”

Although Ton has yet to secure a professional victory since her debut at the highest level in 2022, she has achieved notable results, including a seventh-place finish in last year’s Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
