As in 2017 and 2018, I went down to Redditch to watch the Women’s Tour Series and Men’s Tour Series kick-off in Redditch. The Tour Series is a set of races that take place across the country for the next few weeks and are shown on ITV4 for good measure too. The race in Redditch ended up wet. It was damp and drizzle for the women but the men got a proper downpour – this comes through in the photos!
The women’s race was made up of 50 riders including National Circuit Champion Anna Henderson, multiple Olympic champion Sarah Storey, winner of the Junior Gent-Wevelgem Elynor Backstedt, and former National Team Sprint champion Georgia Hillieard and current national champion Jessica Roberts.
The men’s race had many of the well-known domestic pros such as national champion Connor Swift, Newport Nocturne winner Andy Tennant, Olympic champion Ed Clancy, former Dimension Data rider Scott Thwaites, multiple national track champion Dan Bigham and many others from the former dominant JLT-Condor team.
