Restart Cycling season for Boels Dolmans Cycling Team

Preparations restart of a unique season run through Spain and Italy

The Boels Dolmans team prepares itself for the restart of the 2020 cycling season at the Spanish races of Emakumeen Nafarroako Klasikoa, de Clasica Femenina Navarra, Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria and the Italian race of Strade Bianche.

The aims for the remainder of the season lay at the Walloon and Flemish classics. It is a special year because of Covid19. This situation demands a lot of the team.

DS Danny Stam explains: “Nobody really knows what to do. The situation at the moment is still very fragile and depending on circumstances which aren’t in any way controllable. That makes the situation very tricky and difficult for all concerned. It is a puzzle which can’t be laid down because of missing pieces. The only thing you can do is work as hard as possible as a team and prepare yourself optimal for the first race on the calendar. If the cycling seasons restarts as scheduled than we will race end of July and in the beginning of August in Spain and Italy. In these races we will lay the foundation for the rest of the season.”

The Boels Dolmans team prepared itself in the UCI Bike region Limburg in the beginning of July. All riders were present except for the teams’ North American riders Katie Hall, Karol-Ann Canuel and Skylar Schneider. Because of Covid19 measures they still aren’t allowed to travel to Europe. They prepare themselves in their own regions for the restart of the season.

With Anna van der Breggen the team has a spearhead for the Worlds and Walloon races. With Chantal Blaak and Amy Pieters the team has two trumps for the Flemish classics
