The RideLondon Classique finished today with its final stage. After 3 days of racing, it probably came as no surprise that Lorena Wiebes won on the Embankment in London. Wiebes dominated the RideLondon Classique this year, winning all 3 stages on her way to the overall win. It’s a feat that Wiebes has accomplished before in the Tour of Chongming Island in 2019. Here the parcours was more varied than that flat-fest but Team DSM were able to neutralise every move and set things up for their sprinter.
In today’s stage, we saw attacks, mainly from Valcar, AG Insurance-NXTG and FDJ. Unfortunately, the course wasn’t quite technical or hilly enough for the peloton to be placed under any real pressure. When it came down to it, Charlotte Kool led out the peloton along the Embankment, before Lorena Wiebes hit the front and took the expected victory.
