Valcar Cylance closed out the Ladies Tour of Norway with a strong showing, highlighted by Ilaria Sanguineti’s podium finish on the final stage in Halden. The Italian rider placed 3rd behind Marianne Vos and national champion Marta Bastianelli, having already shown consistency with 10th place on stage two.
“It was a good performance where Ilaria really stood out,” said team coach Davide Arzeni. “She showed great condition and carved out an important result by reaching the podium in the final stage.”
The team, directed on the road by Enrico Campolunghi, also drew positives from Silvia Persico, Alessia Vigilia, Silvia Pollicini and Chiara Muccioli. The only setback came from Elena Pirrone, who was forced to abandon with a fever.
There was more success for the squad on the track. Vittoria Guazzini claimed victory in the Omnium at the International Meeting in Germany, defeating European road champion Amy Pieters after a close battle. Chiara Consonni finished 5th, while Miriam Vece secured 2nd place in the sprint tournament, finishing behind Germany’s Miriam Welte.
Both Guazzini and Consonni will next line up for the Italian national team at the Grand Prix Prostejov in the Czech Republic on 30th and 31st August.
