Scheldeprijs preview: wind, rain and eh snow?

The last of the cobbled classics this Spring is the Scheldeprijs. It’s the first time this race will be held for the women. It’s unofficially the world championships for sprinters but the weather circumstances in Belgium and the Netherlands might decide otherwise on Wednesday. Rozemarijn Ammerlaan, Mylรจne de Zoete, Britt Knaven, Charlotte Kool, Maud Rijnbeek and Emily Wadsworth will defend the NXTG colours in and around Antwerp. Charlotte hopes to leave some difficult races behind and get a good result:

I am curious to see what the wind does tomorrow on the course of the Scheldeprijs. I am super excited to have this race added to the womenโ€™s calendar. Hopefully, we get to sprint for the win!

Wim Stroetinga will be the sports director for this race. He sees the weather circumstances as an extra challenge for the team.

It’s important to ride as a team tomorrow. It’s also important to take initiative, especially with the chance of echelons. In the final we will see what the situation is like and play the card of Mylรจne or Charlotte if it gets to a sprint and they are still there.

You can watch the race live via Proximus from 11.45am
