Shari Bossuyt aims for Olympic Qualification at Track World Championships

Shari Bossuyt aims for Olympic Qualification at Track World Championships Shari Bossuyt is in Berlin to take part in the UCI Track World Championships. She is part of the team pursuit with Jolien d’Hoore, Lotte Kopecky and Gilke Croket. Their goal: qualifying for the Olympic Games. The qualifying rounds take place on Wednesday, the finals on Thursday.

We hope and need to be in the top 8 (of the 12). We also hope to get a new Belgian record. Top 8 and beating France is what we need to qualify for Tokyo. If we succeed we will be the first Belgian team ever but it won’t be easy. Everyone is ready to go. I have a slight cold but with me that means that my form is coming. It will be better tomorrow.

We did a good training camp on Mallorca with many endurance rides. We also did specific training on the rollers: 20 seconds at the watts we need to do at the front of the team and 40s at the watts we do on the other three positions in the team. I race the entire four kilometres so that will hurt.

You can watch the Track World Championships on NOS, Sporza, Eurosport and the UCI YouTub Channel. Or follow the livetiming via Tissot
