After an extremely intensive and successful 2,5 years of working together, Team Parkhotel Valkenburg and Wiebes decided to part their ways by 1 June 2020.
Wiebes joined the team in 2018 as a first-year elite rider with the goal to develop into an all-round rider within the women’s peloton. In her breakthrough year, 2019, Lorena showed what she was capable of, winning many races on the highest level in cycling. Winning the Dutch National Championships was one of those highlights from the previous season.
Parkhotel Valkenburg team manager Esra Tromp: ‘We’re proud to have had Lorena in the team the past few years. As a junior we already saw that she had the possibilities to grow into one of the top riders in women cycling. We are extremely proud that our organization and environment was the place where that could actually happen. Although it is unfortunate to see a rider leave after many successes together, if the match is not there anymore it is time to move on. We are thankful for the years with Lorena and we wish her all the best for the future.’
