The Scheldeprijs, wind and sprinters classic for the Movistar Team (Wednesday 6th April)

The women’s version of one of the Belgian events that is called the ‘World Championship for sprinters’ is back, in its second edition. Less demanding in terms of cobbled sections, the technical complication will remain high in a Scheldeprijs (or Scheldt GP) where Emma Norsgaard – this time absent – was 2nd, after Lorena Wiebes (DSM), at the race’s debut in 2021.

Before reaching the final circuit in Schoten (3 laps of about 17 km each), the runners will have to face numerous unprotected areas against the wind. It is here, along with a series of technical zones, that the race can be broken before the end by attacks and fans. In the final loop, two small sections of pavé add a little more ‘spark’ to the test.
