The UCI has revealed the list of women’s and men’s professional road teams that have submitted all required documents to register for the 2025 season, marking a significant milestone for women’s cycling. ToggleA total of 15 teams have applied for Women’s WorldTeam status, continuing to build on the sport’s professionalisation. Among the applicants are well-known names such as AG Insurance-Soudal, FDJ-SUEZ, and SD Worx, who have consistently been among the top teams in the Women’s WorldTour. Joining them are teams like Movistar and Canyon//SRAM Racing, all aiming to continue their success in the 2025 season.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of the Women’s ProTeams category. Eight teams have applied for this new status, including Cofidis Women Team and EF Education-Oatly, alongside new challengers like the VolkerWessels Women’s Pro Cycling Team. The creation of this new tier aims to provide a stepping stone for women’s teams looking to grow and compete at a higher level, offering an important pathway to the elite UCI Women’s WorldTour. 2 teams are named but Winspace is expected to be one, with the other between Eneicat and Lotto who have both expressed interest previously.
In total, 23 women’s teams have completed their registration files by the 15th October deadline, a clear sign of the increasing professionalism within women’s cycling. The UCI is currently reviewing the documents submitted by the teams, with final confirmation expected on 10th December 2024.
On the men’s side, 18 teams have applied for UCI WorldTeam status for the 2025 season. Among them are familiar names such as INEOS Grenadiers, UAE Team Emirates, and Soudal Quick-Step, as well as emerging teams like Red Bull-BORA Hansgrohe. Meanwhile, 17 men’s teams have applied for UCI ProTeam status, including Q36.5 and Lotto, ensuring strong competition for the coming season.
While some teams, such as Astana Qazaqstan and Ceratizit-WNT, missed the initial deadline due to administrative issues, they have the opportunity to resolve these issues before the registration process concludes. Both teams have expressed confidence in completing their paperwork soon, with Astana manager Alexandre Vinokourov stating, “the registration and license confirmation process with the UCI is proceeding in accordance with the requirements.”
The final list of registered teams for the 2025 season will be published on 10th December 2024, after all submitted documents are reviewed for compliance with ethical, financial, and administrative standards. This season promises to be a turning point for women’s cycling, with the creation of the Women’s ProTeams category helping to bridge the gap between top-tier and developing teams.
