Women leadoff huge wave of Spanish races

Riders head to Spain for a series of high-profile events

Rally Cycling is preparing for an intense run of races in Spain. Both women’s and men’s teams have a programme full of high-profile stage and one-day events that will pitch them against some of the biggest teams in the world.

The women have a series of tricky one-day events that are bookended by two key stage races, starting with the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana (May 6-9), and ending at the Women’s WorldTour Vuelta a Burgos (May 20-23).

First stop for the men is Challenge Mallorca (May 13-16), composed of four punchy one-day races that usually kickstart the European season in January. The new position on the calendar will not only make for significantly better weather conditions but also a higher level in the peloton with a great deal more racing in their collective legs.

After such a turbulent twelve months, Rally Cycling looks forward to hitting the ground running next week.

“This is a really important block of racing for us,” says Jonas Carney, Rally Cycling Performance Director. “Of course, given the global situation, we’re grateful to be racing at all, and it’s fantastic to see both teams competing at this level again. We’ll have some tired legs by the end of the month but hopefully, we’ll have some results to be proud of.”

Keep up with the team on Twitter and Instagram for glimpses into the team’s preparation and for details on how to follow the races.
