Plantur-Pura announced the signings of 3 riders today – Sophie Wright, Greta Marturano and Cecilia van Zuthem. All 3 riders have signed two-year contracts to join Plantur-Pura who are expected to join the Women’s WorldTour in 2023.
For Sophie Wright, it’s a move from AlĂ© BTC Ljubljana/UAE Team ADQ where she spent 2 years already at WWT level. We’ve seen Wright attacking the peloton plenty this year in particular. She finished 10th in GC at the AG Tour de la Semois but also went off the front in races like the Tour of Scandinavia. Her goals for 2023 include the grand tours, the classics in the Ardennes and Strade Bianche. The path to being able to race as a leader is probably clearer at Plantur-Pura than at her previous team
“I feel inspired by Plantur-Pura’s philosophy, organisation and vision for the future.”

Greate Marturano has been on Top Girls Fassa Bortolo for the last 4 years and has developed into a strong rider. Similar to Sophie Wright, we saw Marturano making plenty of attacks this season on her way to 8th at the ThĂĽringen Ladies Tour. Marturano was also 23rd at the Giro Donne too.
“Next year will be an interesting year and I will take an important step in my still young career.”

The third signing, Cecilia van Zuthem is an 18-year-old who joins from club team WV Schijndel. She already has a list of strong results which includes 8th at Konvert Kortrijk Koerse and 6th on the opening stage of the Lotto Belgium Tour. She may have to be on a team role in 2023 on a stronger team but her results are encouraging that she can make the leap to race at a consistently higher level.
“I will be one of the youngest riders in the team, so I’m looking forward to learning from the more experienced riders and the staff.”
